Celebrating the Summer of Love…
Yes folks, that’s right this year is the 40th Anniversary of the “Summer of Love”. Way back in 1967 more than 100,000 people from around the world journeyed to San Francisco, California to be part of the “Hippie Experience”.
These so called “Flower People” popularized the notions of free food, free drugs and free love in a utopian setting. That period of euphoria peaked just two short years later when more than 500,000 hippies attended the Woodstock Music Festival in upstate New York. Sociologists can muse on whether the experiment was successful and the long term implications on our culture. While they’re cogitating, we at Naked Winery thought it was time to Celebrate!
As appropriate, get out that old/new Mama’s and Papa’s Album/DVD , find the California Dreaming track and start planning your summer of love party now. To be true to the spirit of the Summer of Love, your party must meet these requirements: Free Food, Free Drugs and Free Love in a Utopian Setting.
Maybe we’ve set the bar too high, but you certainly could offer appetizers followed up by a BBQ. Cover the second point by serving classic summer wines like our Naked Pinot Gris or Naughty Chardonnay together with a Diva Sangiovese on the rocks or mix up a Vixen Syrah Sangria.
Now for the last point, serving wines like Naked and Naughty will have already put things in motion and we want to keep that momentum growing. Select a few foxy Vixens or perhaps have your Diva pick her own pack, gather up your flower people and read the back labels out loud. This is sure to change the conversation and move your party toward a romantic experience honoring the Summer of Love.
